چکیده

We report two cases of liver metastases from colorectal and anal cancers after the failure systemic chemotherapies that were successfully treated with a combination therapy transarterial chemoembolization using irinotecan-loaded drug-eluting beads hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy. In both cases, chemotherapy was performed as maintenance beads. Irinotecan at dose 120 mg loaded on drug delivery for bead-transarterial chemoembolization. A weekly high-dose 5-fluorouracil regimen (1000 mg/m2/5 h) used The shrank remarkably in progression-free survivals 13 9 months, respectively, obtained without any severe adverse events.

Transarterial Chemoembolization of Metastatic Colorectal Carcinoma with Drug-Eluting Beads, Irinotecan (DEBIRI): Multi-Institutional Registry

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patient tolerance and efficacy of delivering locoregional chemotherapy to metastatic colorectal (MC) hepatic metastases via hepatic trans-arterial approach using irinotecan loaded drug eluting beads. This open-label, multi-center, single arm study included 30 MC patients, who had failed first line therapy. Of the 57 total embolization sessions, 12 (...

Combination chemotherapy with navelbine and continuous infusion of 5-fluorouracil in metastatic, chemotherapy refractory breast cancer.

BACKGROUND The protracted continuous infusion (PCI) of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) has proven in several studies an active and well tolerated treatment for advanced, pretreated breast cancer. Navelbine has also activity in this setting. PATIENTS AND METHODS Heavily pretreated patients with metastatic breast carcinoma were eligible for the study. Treatment consisted of 5-FU 250 mg/m2 given as a PCI ...

Transarterial chemoembolization with irinotecan beads in the treatment of colorectal liver metastases: systematic review.

PURPOSE For patients with unresectable colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM), transarterial embolization with the use of drug-eluting beads with irinotecan (DEBIRI) represents a novel alternative to systemic chemotherapy or local treatments alone. The present systematic review evaluates available data on the efficacy and safety of DEBIRI embolization. MATERIALS AND METHODS A comprehensive search...

Transarterial treatment of colorectal cancer liver metastases with irinotecan-loaded drug-eluting beads: technical recommendations.

Transcatheter hepatic arterial administration of irinotecan-loaded drug-eluting beads (DEBIRI) is used to treat liver-only or liver-dominant metastatic disease from colorectal cancer (CRC). Eligibility for DEBIRI should be established in each individual patient by a multidisciplinary team based on comprehensive clinical, imaging, and laboratory assessment. Standardization of DEBIRI technique an...

Intra-arterial hepatic chemotherapy combined with continuous infusion of 5-fluorouracil in patients with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma.

Cholangiocarcinoma refers to primary cancer of intrahepatic bile ducts. Resection is the most effective treatment, with a median survival of 36 months and a 5-year survival rate of 50%; however, unresectable tumors have a very poor prognosis with a median survival of 11 months and a 3-year survival rate of 21% [1, 2]. No good chemotherapy regimen is currently available, but 5-fluorouracil (5-FU...
